We are based on the beautiful island of St Lucia in the Caribbean.

Four  Optometry practices and (opening November) a  newly built full Ophthalmology and Aesthetic Surgery Center . Plans to develop regionally are under consideration. 

We are searching for an additional Optometrist to join the team in St Lucia in November 2022.

The contract is twelve months, (renewable),  and accommodation , flights and work permit are provided. We are hoping the pleasures of island life, and working with our dynamic team will convince you to stay here long term .

The thirty year established independent company is due to relocate two of its four practices in the third quarter of 2022.

The new main facility will be 8500 sq ft , to include two Ophthalmology Operating Theatres and space for more specialised eye care services. 

This will be developed in 2023 as a regional and international medical tourism facility.

The main facilities’  services will be complemented, on a smaller scale,  in the newly located town Centre practice , and in 2023 in the practice in the South of the Island .

We are looking for an experienced Optometrist who has excellent skills and knowledge  in contact lenses … Multifocal contacts,  Scleral contacts , Orthokeratology (and low dose atropine usage for the high level of on island myopia)  , plus an interest in developing various specialty uses of contact lenses

Fitting of prosthetic eyes would be a plus,  but not essential .

Involvement in leading the present Optometry team to develop a thriving contact lens practice,  and working closely with the company’s Marketing Department to produce videos and online marketing, will be an essential part of the job .

Training in store staff (during the working day and occasionally after hours )  about different contact lens options and handling etc will be necessary . 

Routine Eye examinations,  and a track record of a good conversion rate to spectacles plus contact lenses is important .

The present Optometry team has a Pediatric Optometrist to work closely with on a myopia programme 

One Optometrist in the team is working to specialise and develop a low vision clinic.  Developments in contact lenses in low vision are of interest.

One Optometrist presently fits Scleral lenses and  works closely with the  Ophthalmologist offering collagen cross linking for Keratoconus .

Options to develop contact lens  with medication release, to a very high level of on island glaucoma patients,  is being considered..

Other members of the Optometry team fit basic level contacts , with differing degrees of enthusiasm!
